Due to a lack of
unproductive arable land available to provide for goats in the valleys
of the Hamzu district, a total of 21 newly formed goat brigades, consisting
mainly of relatively inexperienced young people with little knowledge of
agriculture, were resettled in 1997 from 15 lowland APCs to the mountain
region of Pyong Pung Dok. This region will be a model for the settlement
of other mountain regions in the country. Because of its pioneering characteristics,
it is especially important to avoid mistakes in the cultivation of meadows
and grazing land by providing expert guidance and consequently a correct
'standard' for Korea DPR.
